Is it possible to re-apply when you have more work experience? Basically what happens to all those who don't get into investment banking? Do pursue a different path?
Also, what is an alternative, in the financial industry, to investment banking that also receives high pay? Thanks

Of course you can apply again. If you want the same pay, only S&T may be easier to get than IB. PE (Bain Cap, Blackstone, etc.) and hedge funds (Bridgewater, Citadel, etc.) are even harder to break into from undergrad than investment banking.

Well what are talking about first. Internships, absolutely - feel free to reapply next year, semester, etc - no one is going to be upset and people get rejected, then accepted later all of the time. Full time, you can absolutely reapply, but without relevant experience, it will be much tougher coming in as a career changer than an undergrad student.

Regarding other paths, it depends what you mean by high pay - in terms of base salary, consulting, IB, P/E, corp dev, even ops all get paid very well. For bonuses, besides IB, your best bet will probably be S&T (I mean besides P/E and HF, of course). It really depends on your interests as well - if all you want is a good salary, IB probably isn’t for you as the hours often don’t justify the pay - especially in poor bonus seasons.

IBanker
