If you get in............

If you get into Yale crosses fingers, are you still applying to your other schools, or stopping there?

I think I'm gonn apply to a few more schools if I get in, but not that many. There's a big IF though!

what is Yale looking for, for you to be accepted? I'm only in grade 11 but i want to know what i am going to need to be able to get into yale next year.

kellyann: I have absolutely no idea what Yale wants.

ritz: I'll apply to two or three more schools, just to compare financial aid. But my heart has bee nlost to Yale.

I assume that's the case for most people- it took me long enough to decide to apply to Yale early the first time.. I don;t want to have to decide again

I'll also be applying to a select few others just to please my parents and compare financial aid offers.

However, if I have to go into serious debt to go to Yale, then that will just have to be the case.

haha great attitude!

yeah, that's how I see it too :)

I'm going to apply to a few other schools regardless, but obviously the list will be affected by the decision from Yale. I'm not yet sure how I want to balance academics with music-- I'm hoping to become a professional violinist-- so I'll probably apply to a mix of conservatories, universities, and dual-degree programs.
What other schools are you other EA people looking at? I'm thinking Bard, Harvard, Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins.

No one should go into debt by going to yale. They meet 100% of need. If your aid package is not what you expected, just talk to them.

I plan on applying to other schools before I hear my decision from yale, so I guess I will be applying even if I get in. I most likely will withdraw some though.

100% of demonstrated need, as calculated by their formula. Meeting 100% of need is a lovely ideal, but unfortunately their formulas won't represent the help my family needs.

Debt it is!

Well, once you are accepted, they want you to attend. I hear that many times you can haggle with them to get a better deal by saying you may go to a different school.

First I have to get in...

IIIIIIFFF I got in I would apply to a couple more, just for comparison (and because I haven't actually visited the east coast yet.... I should get to that). But not all 9 others, that's for sure.

ha ha ha no one can beat me... im applying to 14 other schools! he he he... but i do luv yale, don't worry.

haha nice 14 others? are they all common app or are you doing 14 other applications?

i also have about 10-15 other schools ready (just in case) and some i will be mailing within a month and some i will be waiting until after that fateful day.
but, this really comes down to When i get into YALE i will do a happy dance, eat lots of chocolate and ride around in my car with all the windows down screaming at the top of my lungs all through this suburb, the most boring place on the planet, laughing about how in a year i will be (19) and at YALE!.

if i get into yale... i will graduate myself from high school.

If I get into Yale... I will matriculate.

I'm still gonna apply to several schools, mainly for aid comparison but it would really suck to have to give up Yale for that.

on the "what made you choose yale" on the yale supplementary app, I wrote, "it is my destiny." (on the rough draft :))

seriously, though, if I get in early, I'm moving in the next day.
