If you get rejected from the business school as a transfer can you still get admitted as a student?

Basically the title. I’m looking to transfer to UVA, U of M, or UNC, and I want to go in for econ but the business schools are dumb competitive. If I don’t get in, I still want to major in econ, can they accept you into the university just not the business school?

It depends on the university. You’ll have to check the web sites for each school to which you are applying. If it is open major, you are good to go. If it is “direct admit”, you are applying to a particular department. If you don’t get in to the department you want, you would have to take classes in another department and get a high enough GPA so they would let you switch. However, as a transfer student, you probably wouldn’t graduate in four years total under that scenario.

That’s a bit simplistic, but that’s the gist of how it works.
