If you get rejected

Don't worry, you tried your best.

^ hahaha. thanks!

the thing is I didn’t try my best…

for those people who did though, you did try your best so don’t be hard on yourselves.

^ oh impetuous, I think you’re being too hard on yourself.

I didn’t either…

But still not to worry.

Haha, I didn’t even write a supplemental essay! I definitely did not do my best!

Harvard is a reach for everyone - even for all those 2400/4.0 people out there. If you don’t get in it’s not because you weren’t good enough, it’s because they can only accept so many people. Most of the applicants are highly qualified.

And seriously, those people who expect to get in and are devastated about not being accepted aren’t Harvard material, IMO. It’s those who are proud of themselves, whether they get in or not, because they know that they have accomplished great things, and don’t let one school’s decision bring them down. If you were qualified enough to think you might have a slim chance at getting into an Ivy League, then you’ll most definitely get into a great school. Yes, there are good schools that aren’t Ivies, believe it or not.

^ solid post – unlike the marshmallow original post

No need for you to chime in.

"Yes, there are good schools that aren’t Ivies, believe it or not. "

^Love.

My supplemental essay sucks.

^That makes two of us.

This thread is filled with a disgusting amount of cognitive dissonance.

If you did not get in to Harvard, it doesn’t mean you were unlucky. It doesn’t mean that there is no way you could have improved your chances along your past academic career.

If you were denied admittance, it simply means that there were thousands of more qualified applicants than you with holistically more impressive profiles.

This “I-have-no-regrets-because-I-gave-it-my-100%” kind of attitude will get you no where in life. If you want to succeed, and come out on the very top, then you have to improve upon your past mistakes and shortcomings. Otherwise, you’ll forever be a Corneller or worse.

Cut the crap, people.

 1. Cut his ***** off and burn it
 2. Use the burnt ***** and shove it in his mouth
 3. Make him write I will not write about likely letters
 4. Make him do 60,000 push-ups

Let’s put away our sadistic, sexually-charged fantasies for just one minute and get to the point of this thread.

Winners gonna win; losers gonna find a way to make themselves think they won.
And most importantly of all, haters gonna hate.

And if you think I’m ■■■■■■■■, read some relevant Wikipedia psychology pages.

But shouldn’t you be attending a community college?
Why are you ■■■■■■■■ us with your likely letter?

@XXnameless, nice!

only that I would change your statement “there are good schools that aren’t Ivies” to ‘there are GREAT schools that aren’t Ivies’ because there ARE many GREAT schools that are not Ivies and because not all Ivies are great and really Ivies are not that great as people may think. An alumni interviewer said ‘harvard and yale are overrated’ and I agree. Actually, every college is overrated – many college graduates will have tough time finding jobs and paying back their college loans, which in a way is the proof that they are overrated. No?

First post:
Today I received a phone call from the Harvard admissions office congratulating me on my acceptance!

When I look around this board I see nothing but a bunch of stressers and worrywarts. It’s all hogwash. Just accept what happens and know that it happened for a reason–whether you get accepted or denied. If the latter, it just means that your fate has in store other great things for you.

Although my SAT is rather unimpressive (2010), I have no minority status, and my ECs did not extend outside of varsity sports and working at my family’s local business, I still got in.

I think, of anything, my essays were my hook.
I can’t stop smiling.

Good luck to all!

2nd post:
God bless all of you.
