If you had the choice would you go to Baylor, A&M, TCU, or SMU? Why?

SMU because it’s home to the Hillel of Dallas. Given that you’re also considering Baylor and Texas Christian University I presume my desire for a larger Jewish population doesn’t apply to you, so therefore, you should list why you’re considering those schools. What do you want out of a college? Are there any majors you’re considering, any size school you want? Do you want a more religious college, one with big school spirit, one with a good diversity of people, and/or active Greek scene? Do you prefer urban campuses or more isolated ones? Any other factors I forgot to list that you’d like out of a college?

Most importantly, can you afford all of those schools? If not, how much will each cost you? If you’re not sure what you can afford, ask your parents.

Cost constraints? Net price at each school? Possible majors?

Note that you have three religious schools of different religions on your list. If you are religious, is your religion any of the three?

All are good schools - try to figure out which is the best fit for you.

Negatives - A&M is very big. Baylor is in Waco (my daughter did not like Waco). TCU is very expensive for its academic reputation. SMU still seems to have a disproportionate number of rich kids, and is very expensive.

Positives - A&M is an excellent value for its academic reputation, and does a great job of making a big school feel small and friendly. Baylor is a good value for its reputation and average class size. TCU is in a great location with a terrific mix of academics, sports and social life. SMU has been pouring money into its facilities, and has numerous up and coming departments and is in a great urban location.

I would go to A&M or Trinity (depending on the financial aid Trinity offers) assuming you cannot get into Rice.

SMU is the best education.
