northeastern. st. john’s is a huge waste of money and loyola chicago doesn’t have a good reputation where i’m from.

I would pick Northeastern too. The co-op program is very valuable, provided you know exactly what you want to major in. Plus the campus is gorgeous. I don’t know anything about the other two except that St. John’s (I think) has a pharmacy program. However, I think strength of program would have to be the most important factor in a decision between the three.

Thanks for the responses!

I will be majoring in philosophy and ultimately going to law school, so the reputation of my undergrad institution isn’t nearly as important as my GPA and LSAT. Northeastern will end up being extremely expensive; the scholarship I was awarded is very small compared to what the other schools gave me. St. Johns gave me a huge scholarship (I’d end up paying like 6g a year). Loyola gave me a 50%(ish) scholarship. I too want to pick northeastern, but am just a little worried I might be wasting my money! I have like 5 days to decide!! I really want to believe Northeastern would be worth the investment. Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

Law school is obscenely expensive. Unless you know that one or another of these has a significantly better placement into the particular law school program that you want, you are better off choosing the one that is least expensive for you.

^ leave it to a mom to endorse the rational choice. I want to go to Northeastern so bad its ridiculous, but I don’t know if I can justify it at this point!

Sit down with your own mom, and do the math. Include estimates for law school as well. Run some of the loan repayment calculators at [College Calculators - savings calculators - college costs, loans](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Calculate Your Cost – BigFuture | College Board) and [FinAid! Financial Aid, College Scholarships and Student Loans](http://www.finaid.org) to get an idea of just exactly how long those potential debts will be taking just exactly how much out of your paycheck. Visit [Project on Student Debt: Home](http://projectonstudentdebt.org/) to read through some true-life tales about how college debt has limited some people’s post-college life options.

Being rational about this stuff is no fun I know. However, you are pretty much a grown up now so you know there are times to think with your head and not with your emotions. Big expenses are one of them. If you can’t make your decision alone, get help from people who are good at thinking things through carefully. Northeastern may be the right choice for you, it might not. Just don’t go into this blindly.

Wishing you all the best.

Thank you so much for your help!!!
