If you HAD to go to one of the 50 flagship state schools...

Ummm we have the SUNY sysem which has schools ranked higher than all of those except UVA

Rankings don't mean anything.

SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Stony Brook and SUNY Geneseo don't even come close to comparing to UVA, UMich, UT-Austin, or any other flagship school listed.

UMich, UVa, Cal - in that order

UC Berkeley.

UVA, URI or UNC

Cal may be the flagship school, but for instate applicants it and UCLA are about equal.

I'd take UCLA over any other public school, but if it had to be a flagship school it would be Cal. Michigan would also be somewhat appealing.

I changed my mind, U Washington Seattle
I would go there over any ivy if it wasn't so far away.

UVA (good school, like the East Coast), or UMich (good linguistics, and it'd be interesting to try a big school).
Definitely not Chapel Hill. That's instate, and quite a few kids from my school go there every year. Good school, but it's kind of like an extension of high school. Bleech.

With in-state tuition, University of Virginia followed by UNC at Chapel Hill followed by UCLA. Otherwise, our state flagship, Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

"UMich or Wisconsin.

Anywhere BUT Ohio State, really."

AMEN to that!

UVA or UNC for sure.

UCLA, UC-Berkeley, UMinnesota-Twin Cities, UWashington.

I'd probably just got to University of Idaho.

It's in state. I'd get in cheap(er). They have a decent music program....
at least for Idaho.

Although, well, we won't talk about their football team.

That would deffinatly be a last resort for me though.

Berkeley ftw.

IU-Bloomington

William and Mary, then UVA.

As an Ohioan, it may be sacrilegious for me to say this, but UMich all the way.

Then UVa, because I have a house right next to it, so it's comfy.

UNC is cool too. I have a buddy who goes there, but he's graduating this year.

Hmmm...Berkeley. But do all 50 states even really have a flagship? Could you name them all? Can anyone, for instance, tell me what the flagship university is in NY?

CU- Boulder, U of Minnesota, Cal- Berkely, U of Texas, U of Florida and U Mich would all be nice. Luckily for me, CU and U of M are my two top choices, and I'll most likely end up at one of those schools :)

U Wash- Seattle
