Basically I’m studying at a university in my country as a 1st year undergraduate. But now I want to apply to College as First Year Freshman. I’m applying in the First Year Section of Common App and this question pumps up in the Education category :
“If you have ever taken coursework at a college or university, please indicate the number of colleges”
Should I include my current university course ? I haven’t received any credits yet.
Also in the CSS profile, in Academic Info, they ask: "Select the student's year in school for the 2018-19 year". Should I fill in "Not in School" or "12th Grade" or "First Year Undergraduate" ?
I think you need to speak to the university admission but I would think your a transfer. It’s actually could be better to apply as a transfer than a freshman.
But my plan was to go to America college, I just take the domestic college like a secure place in case I failed.
Can I just put in 0 and apply as a freshman ?
How bout the CSS profile ?
It depends on the college’s definitions, so you need to ask each college. In general, if you will have less than one year (1 semestor for some colleges) of college credit earned after HS, you can apply as a freshman. If you will have more, you need to apply as a transfer. And no, you can’t put 0, because they will find your college credits, and lying on the application will result in rejection/rescind.
It’s usually phrased, “If you enrolled in a degree granting program.” It’s the choice to enroll as a regular student elsewhere… They dont want kids hedging their bets.
