and this person eally likes you...are you more than likely to be admitted?

sorry I meant to type really

yes. you have beaten the system. wonderful for you.

are you being serious or sarcastic? And this is not my case ((unfortunately)) but my friend's.

Hopefully that will give your friend an advantage, but you must remember that every student that is admitted to Harvard is admitted by a majority vote of an Admissions Committee that has around 35 members.

so they do that for 22,000+ applicants??

no. I understand that 5K-7K at most make it to the formal 35-40 person Committee.

and what if the admissions rep the person meets is the minority/low income recruiter, and my friend is a minority/low income....?

of course that will help, and increase your friend's odds, but there are many factors that go into an admissions decision as you know.

so, Harvard eliminates the majority of its applicants and then the rest go to committee?

yeah that's what I understand. Even voting on 5K to 7K application is a major operation for 35 to 40 people because not all are easy decisions and apparently the officers get attached to the candidates and engage in heated arguments about who to take. Also, if they admit more then they have room, they have to review everyone again and decide who to eliminate. I would assume that these kids would be waitlisted rather than eliminated though.
