If you live in SoCal and didn't get your letter

Sorry if this has already been answered but, if you live in SoCal and didn't get your USC acceptance letter by now, does that mean you were definitely rejected?

Hi Eiffel- I sure hope it doesn’t mean that. We received no letter yet. And, from what I hear, only a couple of waves of acceptance letters have gone out. Last year’s threads seem to indidcate that people were being accepted all the way up to the end of March.

I sure hope so! I just figured that SoCal applicants would have to be in the first wave?? But maybe not? :-/

No…it definitely doesn’t mean you’re rejected. No one has actually received anything from the second wave besides international students receiving emails from DHL regarding a package from USC.

Eiffel, first wave was for scholarship recipients.

Well, I meant the first wave of regular decisions. :p

First wave of RD’s = second wave.

Yeah, I know, I just said what I meant by it…should be obvious since the “first wave” obviously ended at least a month ago…

talked to parents of a girl who got in last week, good grades and scores, pre med letter sent last week

If the experiences of the past couple of years are to be repeated, there will be several waves of acceptances through March. Applicants who haven’t yet received a letter should not assume that they’re rejected! This is a very nervewracking time, but there is still a lot of room for hope.

Mid March - End of March: Acceptances for Fall of 2010 students
End of March - Beginning of April: Acceptances for Spring of 2011 students :expressionless:
Beginning April: Rejection :(

So, then where you live makes no difference for when you’ll get your letter?

Where you live makes a difference only because the USPS takes longer to get letters from USC to NY than to Orange County. My kid was accepted the equivalent of the end of this coming week but didn’t hear that he was accepted into the majors he’d applied to until the week after that. We were definitely putting some energy into trying to figure out the magic formula to determine whether he was accepted or rejected as well, but really, it’s like reading tea leaves; all you can do is take a deep breath and wait. (Unless you’re living abroad, in which case, you can keep checking what’s up with DSL!) Good luck, Eiffel. You know you will end up in “a wonderful university '14” and I hope it’s this one!

Thank you, Nester! I hope so too. :D
