If I was in-state UCLA would be my first choice.

Probably not…I’m interested in mostly OOS public schools.
Although if I weren’t from Ohio I probably wouldn’t be considering Ohio State.

Yes. My school district has a scholarship that will give me $30,000 if I go to any school in Pennsylvania (including private schools). Without that scholarship there would be a lot more schools outside of Pennsylvania on my list. I would also have schools in Pittsburgh on my list (I am not applying to schools in the city that I live in).

A heck of a lot different. I only applied to in state school because it would be a lot cheaper.

Not for meeee. I go wherever the wind takes me!

It would for me since I’m only interested in going to an in-state school.

If I wasn’t in California, I wouldn’t be so UC inclined

I’m from CT, so I’m staying instate (Sal/Val Scholarship at UConn provides full tuition). I’m sure if I was in Wisconsin I’d be considering U of Wisconsin Madison, if I was from California I’d be considering the UCs. It’s about finding the best priced and best quality school nearby.

If I wasn’t in CA, I’d apply to public universities like Purdue or Georgia tech…depending on where I lived. I’d also probably not apply to as many UCs.

If I didn’t live in Virginia, then I would think UVa is really a top school, but living in the same state as it makes me take it…for granted, I guess. I’m not interested in instate schools though, so I don’t think that much of it.

If I wasn’t born in Texas than yeah, I’d probably go for Ohio State or Florida, but no matter where I go now I still want to go to UT

I probably would not be considering any Florida schools. The top colleges on my list would still be the same though.

Our D’s list would be the same. She is considering places very far away!

It’s possible, but I’d probably want to leave the state no matter what just to get away from the same environment.

I think if i didn’t live in California i probably wouldn’t want to go to a UC as badly o;

I live in maryland and i really dont want to go to hopkins because its less than an hour from home but if i lived further away it would probably be in my top schools

Yes! If I lived in New York I’d consider NYU and Columbia. And if I lived in Georgia I’d be checking out all kinds of schools there. I think Georgia is such a cool place especially for african americans. I like university of maryland at college park too.
But seriously I’d be considering Columbia if it weren’t so far away and in such a big city

This. When 15-20 kids from your average public school go there every year, it doesn’t seem so special.

No. I would still consider somewhere as far away from home as possible :D
