...How detrimental is it to your chances in admissions?

As in, I got a 2160:
CR - 690 (ARGH)
Math - 730 (UGH)
Writing - 740 (meh).

Now, I'm retaking in January, and will prepare more wholeheartedly; I've confidance (arrogant as it is) that I am capable of breaking 2250. However, this is quite an unwelcome blemish on my record, and I'm worried as to how this may affect consideration towards my application.

C'mon , you scored good marks. I thought I was going to break the 2300 mark but I got a 2130. 2160 is around 98th percentile , so i don't think you'll have to worry. This was my first time too.

It's not bad. It's pretty good. It won't impress adcoms at top schools, but really neither would perfect scores.
Those scores are a bit low for really top schools (only CR, really) but they are pretty good.

By the way, where did the 275349 figure came from? That would mean 13.7M people taking the SAT, which I believe it a bit too much to be true... you know, around 20% of US population taking it doesn't seem right. (Yes, I know international students take it too, but still...)

Also I remember someone posting the collegeboard number of people scoring table.. it was for this last year and it had so much info. i wish someone posted it again.
