If you receive any D's in your sr. year in high school...

Do you get your admission automatically revoked? I am talking about second semester. I've had a tough year, and I already had to report a "drop in grades" in first semester for having 3 C's, but they said it wouldn't alter my admission. Second semester was hell for me, and I have 3 D's right now, and I'm not sure if I will be able to raise my grades. Do you get automatically rejected for having D's? I know that if you have a "drop in grades," you have to report it and they take it on a case-by-case basis, but it specifically states in the admission contract that you cannot have any grade lower than a C...but do they still look at the case and your situation? Sorry for writing so much, but I am going crazy right now...

I knew someone got a D and was rescinded. I'd email admissions right away and check with them.

what classes are they in?
that is the first thing we need to know

are those classes really that hard, if like half the class gets Ds and Fs then maybe you can use that as an excuse saying the teacher don't give anything higher :)

actually what's even more important is what's causing you to be getting those grades...With 3 D's, I would expect to be rescinded, but you should talk to admissions about your situation

wow 3? Is it too late to boost em? Call them

Rescinded!!

if this is because of some sort of family crisis, then i can understand. if that applies to you, then sorry.

but i honestly dont get how all these straight A (or near straight A) students with 4.0 GPAs or greater suddenly drop to C and D range. seriously, theres like a new "will i get rescinded" thread every day. i mean really, what the eff are you people doing?! you'd have to be cutting class all day, getting high/drunk, winging all your tests to get down to that level. i know there's senioritis, but come on.

i have a similar situation...all my other grade are mostly As few Bs but its just this one class thats killing me calc 3 (i have a D+++, need a 72 on the final to get a C) at the community college...and i can't go half the time cuz i have boyscouts and i dont like the way the teacher explains it...so im not really understanding it...do u think this is a good enough excuse just in case i get a D? i have mostly As at HS

Nope.

Plenty of students here may not understand what their teacher says. I don't know how your CC is, but office hours, tutoring services, self-study, are the ways to deal with this.

Time management is also a big thing; if you can't devote enough time to a class, then drop it. That's what I had to do for Asian Am 10 this quarter; I'm below full time now, but I couldn't handle all my ECs and other obligations at the same time.

You have a big problem. I was in the same situation as you. Except only 1 D and the rest As and Bs.

If you read some of my other posts from a couple months ago, you'll see that I had my heart set on attending UCLA. BUT, I slacked off second semester, and was getting a D in an AP Class. So, just to be on the safe side, I called UCLA, and this is what I got.

Somehow, they managed to say this in a very nice way. "Why the **** won't we rescind you? How can you let this kind of a thing happen? This is a sign of immaturity, and we don't want that **** at UCLA."

Basically, from their point of view, the fact that you even let this happen in the first place, is a sign that you're not ready for the competitive environment at UCLA - no matter what the reason. After getting almost straight As, they are expecting this kind of commitment through and through.

Hence, I sent in my SIR to Santa Barbara which will still take me as is.

^^damn well then i won't get a D then

Hey i have a question...on the UC application...i put down that i was a boy scout and wrote down under description "Currently Life Scout Working for Eagle"....do u think UCLA might rescind if i dont get eagle, i still am a life scout, i haven't been able to go to many of the meetings and its almost impossible for me to complete the attendance requirement needed for Eagle Scout

lol ^.

It's not like they will check if you got an eagle scout at orientation, or something like that. Technically, you could be working on it for until you are much older.

^^u have until u turn 18...im just a little skeptical about it...so do u think it would be ok? ill still try to get it but if i really need to get it i have to work hard right now i only have 3 months to get 10 merit badges, attend 12 meetings, 20 camping nights, a service project, :(

you said you were working for eagle. technically you're still working for it. you didn't say, working for it and WILL GET or anything ;)

i really don't think extracurrics have as much weight as academic grades and such as far as what they expect you to do. they just don't want you to say you're working on attaining eagle scout when you're not even a boy scout or something.

if you don't raise that D to a C then you WILL get rescinded.

^^I've heard 5 different stories from this forum where people with D's didn't get rescinded

It depends on the class. If you get a d in woodshop, they dont care. If its in enlgish, you bet your ass.

xoxo

ummm 3 is alot so.... u prolly will.. cuz w/ 3 Ds u won't be having an uw 3.0+ gpa either right?
