I got a "F" in one of my art classes. I am planning on retaking it but I heard that if you retake the class, the "F" grade still shows up on your transcript even though it does not count towards your overall GPA. Is this true?

And if there is any other way to take the "F" grade off my transcript, please tell me.

I cannot drop the class at this point as there is only one week left in the semester.

I am a A and B student but I just had so many problems with this class...

that was very condescending. You don’t know what went down with OP. All you needed to say is “yes, i think it will” maybe you didn’t mean it the way it came out, but it really was disrespectful to the OP.

The F shows up on the transcript but the colleges will look to see if you put in the effort of retaking it and if you did (and they see you’re an A/B student) they won’t dwell on it. The fine arts credit that you need is a very general requirement so you could do something better like video, graphic arts, theater arts, theater arts, or theater arts (I think you know my recommendation )

At first I was confused about failing art, but if your teacher graded me on neatness then I’d fail too, haha.

I’m sorry I led the conversation in 2 different directions. You would need to take the exact same class over again in order to “retake” a class. But it isn’t like math where you need to take specific math classes to fulfill the requirement. The art requirement could be any approved visual/performing art. I had a possible suggestion of taking something you’re better at. I think retaking that art class might be a better idea but if you feel like you might struggle again, try something else

It’ll show up. All the grades that you earn in HS will show up on your transcript. Because, if dropped courses and incomplete even show up, then i’m sure that an F would show up.
However, definatially take time & retake the class, because colleges will then see you took time and effort to retake & get a passing grade.
