well yeh if it is out of 200 or something like that. But then again my school standard of an A is 94-100 so if i didn't have to study i would retake it(like made stupid mistakes) but otherwise no. Because these days i realize how quickly grades fall. For example, my multivariable grade dropped from 99% to 94% after a worksheet and a quiz.

Are you kidding? Why waste your time on 4 percentage points that will probably end up completely negligible? You CCers are crazy!

it really depends. sometimes id retake a 96, other times i wouldnt bother to retake an 80.

nope, i wouldn't retake it. i don't even retake tests that i get 86s on, letalone a 96. that's crazy.

unless it was a biology test because my teacher is weird and sometimes does 150 point tests, so that 96/150 (a 64) wouldn't look too good.

Don't retake it. You'll risk looking like an idiot if you score worse on the retake, and it won't matter all that much if you do score higher.

If I was allowed to see my old test and see what I got wrong, heck yea!

If not, it depends on my mood. If I have work to do and I'm tired, heck no. If I'm bored and feel like I have time and confidence (unlikely) then, sure.

depends what you got wrong on the other....were they stupid mistakes that you know you wouldnt make again?

Yes, but suppose he fails the next test? If he has more high grades, it won't damage his average. You never know...

Besides, it's all about calculating how much you can slack off. If he knows he got a 96, he'll probably do pretty good again.

I would just on a matter of principle. You'd have to be extremely careful on scoring perfect on the second test, though.

yes, it would be sad if you scored lower.

Last year I got a 93 on an extremely difficult World History test, and he gave everybody the choice of retaking a test of the same difficulty... needless to say, I didn't retake it, so odds are, I definately wouldn't retake a 96, either.

How are teachers letting students take tests again?

Wow I'm shocked that sooo many people have the opporunity to retake tests. Myself, I would only do so if it was relatively easy and I needed another high crade to act like a cushion. However, at my school, very few teachers allow retakes, and those are pretty much in the lower level classes. I find that interesting because it isn't like my high school is super-hardcore or anything. Hmm...

^Yeah, almost none of my teachers do retakes. In fact, the situation I posted above is the only retake any of my high school teachers have every allowed.

My school/teachers don't have retakes, I was saying that I might consider retaking a 96 if it did.

Oh ok....I wasn't sure if everyone else had retakes and was speaking from experience or whether they were speaking hypothetically.

Most of my teachers probably don't allow retakes (oddly enough, it's never an issue that they openly address), except for my AP Bio teacher.

Anyway, I suppose if I thought the test was reasonable and felt comfortable enough about pulling off another good grade to add to the grade book, I suppose I just might retake it. Except in my case, by the time I'm getting 96's on tests in a class, I'm doing pretty well in that class.

depends on a lot - are they going to take the highest grade of the two or definitely the second one? and which class is this for? calc - ha i would be so happy to not have an F that i would faint and miss the retest. Statistics - yes, because GRRR i should have gotten 100

retakes, i wish all teachers allowed them. the only teacher that ever allowed retakes is my statistics teacher and she wont let you exceed 70 (D-), it's only so the class idiots can pass.
