Again, it depends on the HS, so ask your GC. It may be labelled DE Physics @ ZVY college. It really does not matter. What it won’t be called, if the HS is following rules, is “AP Physics 1” because that is a registered trademark of the CB which has to approve the course.
@skieurope Makes sense.
@skieurope Yeah. I’ll definitely talk to him. In fact, I’ve already emailed him, setting up a quick meeting. Thanks again, @skieurope. Given the number of posts, you sure help a lot of people with insight and information. Thanks.
@NotreDame21 - your school will enter it however they want for high school transcript. I’ve personally never heard of the high school giving you a transcript of regular high school classes and a high school transcript for your dual enrollment classes. - my daughter’s high school transcript just says dual enrollment English, dual enrollment math, dual enrollment business etc. Honestly the names are meaningless but it is done that way to show the grade and how the school figures out the high school gpa. The college class your taking may be a science credit for high school but it is not an AP class since that is a specific class/curriculum. If you want the AP title you need to take a high school AP Physics 1 class.
What matters the most is the college transcript that will be sent to all the colleges you apply to in addition to your high school transcript. The colleges you apply to will know you took the classes during high school. For all schools my daughter applied to she applied just like all other high school seniors just with an additional transcript. Even if your high school opts to use the actual college name of the class on the high school transcript you need to send a college transcript which comes from the college. Once you know where your applying you can call the admissions departments to verify that is all you need to do.
I don’t know how your high school will handle the college transcript. For my daughter she had to pay for and order a college transcript which was signed and sealed to give the high school even though the guidance department from the high school worked directly with the college dual enrollment coordinator and had access to the grades. The high school guidance counselor put the official transcript up on naviance at the end of her junior year and again after the 1st semester of her senior year (paid for an ordered new signed/sealed transcript). At the end of her senior year dd paid for and ordered a final transcript from the college that was sent directly to the college she is now attending. Over the summer when they evaluated the courses they requested 4 syllabi for 4 classes that they were not familiar with. Basically they will accept a science class as science for admissions but there is no guarantees that you will receive college credit for the dual enrollment classes until after an official evaluation of credits is done.
@momtogirls2 Thanks! I appreciate all your info! Yeah, I’m mainly looking for them to accept the dual enrollment Physics class as a science for admissions in reference to my sophomore year. Thus, having the same level as AP Physics 1 and credit. Thanks!
