Because if you can't, then maybe i would consider only taking 1, instead of both tests. but my counselor told me to take both, and send in the score that i like most. i just want to confirm that you don't have to report all of your scores.
hmmm idk if the question seems a little confusing. specifically, what i mean is if i get a better score on ACT and a lower score on SAT (or vice versa) can i report only my ACT score and not my SAT score?

There are some colleges that require you to provide all scores, both ACT and SAT, that you have (e.g., Stanford) so you need to check colleges to which you are applying to determine if you can withhold any scores. Also, sending scores through the testing agencies is not the only way colleges learn of scores. Check your high school. Many put all your scores on your official high school transcript that is sent to colleges.

With SAT, you can cancel a score only before it is released – there is a period of time after test is taken and before score is released during which you can cancel. Once you get score there is no cancellation. You can cancel an ACT score after it is released but that won’t prevent your high school, which is sent the score as soon as it is released, from putting it on your transcript.

The above said, there is generally no penalty for taking both tests because if you submit both, college will use for admission that test score it believes is the higher and thus you are not harmed by a low score on one of the tests.

but if i check the “don’t send score to my high school” box, then it would give me the power to withhold my score right? because how will a college know that you didn’t send all scores? or is it just on an honesty system?

I would like to know this too…

I have heard that colleges can get access to all of your SAT scores, but they can only see the ACT scores that you submit to them (and the ones on your transcript too, obviously)

If you use score choice with CB and you do not provide your high school in test application, and don’t list scores on college application if application asks for list of scores, then college will not get score. Note, if you are in a state that requires students to take a test, either SAT or ACT, then for that particular administration for the test you will not be able to prevent your hugh school from getting it and colleges will know that you took that particular test even if you don’t send it simply because they know when students from a state take the required test.
