If you took all three English courses 1a,1b,1c for transferring..

Do they only count in the top two classes which is 1b and 1c for the units?

Because when you transfer you can only have 2 courses in the English area for the 60 semester/90 quarter units. So what happens if you take and pass all 3 English classes? Which grades to they account for in the transfer?

They will account for all of them. Your English 1A and 1B will be used to satisfy the english requirement for UC but since 1C is UC transferable, it will still be included into your overall GPA.

at my school the IGETC UC requirements are English 1A and English 2 (1B was only for CSU schools). there was a lot of confusion about this among students at my school. as fearthewrath noted, all of the transferable courses you take will contribute to your GPA.

do you have an IGETC sheet? that will tell you exactly which english courses you need at the top. but read it carefully. we do not have an English 1C, so i gather that is equal to English 2? (Critical Thinking).

doesn’t L&S requirements for Berkeley ask specifically for English 1A, 1B, and 1C ? the seven course breadth.

no idea, perhaps they did and i missed it. we don’t have English 1C anyway; just English 1A, 1B, and 2. i completed 1A and 2 and certified my IGETC at my school. the IGETC sheet stated that was all i needed for the UC, but CSU schools required all three. the CSU schools do not require a foreign language (as you probably know). if you followed the LS requirements, they might be different. when i filled out my supplimental CAL application it said choose either IGETC or LS. I chose IGETC and completed my prerequisites. IGETC may have additional courses that the LS does not have, but i don’t know because i needed the IGETC for all my other applications. i guess i will find out how well that works when CAL rejects me on the 27th! haha.
