if you were. accepted into UF, please read

hi, next yr i will be applying to UF and just want to know basically what stats i need or should be looking at reasonably..

if you were accepted or know somebody that has been accepted into UF, please post your/their stats below.. thanks!!

the people i know accepted to UF:

person # 1 -
34 ACT
1460 SAT
4.175 GPA Weighted
3.995 UW
lots of extracurriculars

Person # 2 -
1300 SAT
4.234 GPA Weighted
4.0 UW
lots of extracurriculars

no ACT
1400 SAT
6.13 GPA Weighted
Cross-Country/Track
Extracurriculars: SummerBridge Miami Teacher Assistant and several Webmaster positions for school clubs

Well, it really depends on your resedential status (whether you are in-state or out of state).

my friend 3.4, 1280 OUt of State:
his hook... he is the number 2 ranked diver in the country and number 21 in the world (hes on a full ride for diving)

my friend 3.8 gpa 1180 sat lots of EC and hardest course load possible...the reason for his low sat was he always scored way below average in the english however his math really high

wow i didnt know such great students were applying to UF... i guess im going to have to get a great ACT score... i guess UF is getting very competitive

is it harder to get in for people out of state?

S accepted from out of state. 3.71, hardest course load, no ACT, SAT 1510, 800V 710M, SAT II's 780,740,720, NMF, good recs, good EC's

any others?

ag54: Will he be attending?

ya its easier for those that are in state

wow i feel stupid with my 1100 sat..
but i guess to balance that i have great ECs and a 4.9 GPA

Yes, he has decided on Florida. It had come down to Tulane, Texas and Florida. He chose UF for the incredible merit money.

My friend, in-state:
1030 SAT
4.3 GPA
A lot of leadership (SGA, etc.)
I don't know anything about her essays

now i feel slightly relieved ... lol

My friend, I think like a 3.5 and a 1200

Most of these students would be exceptional for UF. I know three examples, however, that should put UF admissions into clear focus:

3.7 GPA, top 15%, 1040 SAT, very few ECs
2.8 GPA, top 60%, 1210 SAT, basically no ECs, IB Candidate
3.3 GPA, top 50%, 1240 SAT, good ECs, drinking problem reviewed by UF committee, IB Candidate

these are real and all accepted

I think the qualifier on those is "IB Candidate" UF is known for recruiting IBs.

They don't exactly recruit IB candidates so much as they tend to accept them, just as schools don't recruit straight A students, but will likely accept them when it comes down to it.
