If you were in my shoes

Hi CC, hopefully you can make my life just a little easier.

Im currently accepted at UC Berkeley(pre-business), Georgetown (Mcdonough school of business), and CMU(econ program). I'm waitlisted at Dartmouth and Amherst. For an aspiring business major/entrepreneur, which of my 3 acceptances do you feel is best, and would you attend either of my waitlists over my accepted colleges?

PS: Im a realist, so reputation matters a lot for me. I'm also a fan of big schools, but not enough to rule out Amherst. Finally, getting a job post-graduation matters more than anything to me, because once I'm out of my parents house, I have to support myself fully.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I vote Dartmouth. Berkeley would be the best of the universities you were admitted into.

Are you a California resident? If so, Berkeley would be far cheaper, unless the other schools have offered you aid. If you’re not a California resident, then I would vote Carnegie Mellon.

They are all excellent schools with great name recognition, which will give you a great education. Winning a popularity contest in a CC thread shouldn’t be the deciding factor. Take a look at other factors such as cost, size, location, public vs. private. Can you visit?

Also, it’s best if you take Dartmouth and Amherst off the table.

Try this. In addition to financial factors, it includes some other categories that might be important for you.

It is OK for you to pick up the phone and call the career centers at each of the universities that have accepted you so that you can ask about internships and job placement. Since you need to be working as soon as you graduate, that may be more important than anything else on your list.

If instate CA, then Berkeley. Georgetown would be my first pick otherwise. Wow, you certainly have some great options and I agree with other poster, do not keep the waitlist schools in the running. Unless Dartmouth is a absolute fav school, no need to hang on any longer. You have other options!
