I find this really confusing, guys. How would they know (or why would they decide) in advance whether or not to record you? There must be something I’m missing here.
My D auditioned last year. Was not videotaped and did not get in.
I would guess you do one piece and if they liked it they would record your second piece. Otherwise they are taping only for type and not talent.
Ok I got the scoop from a mom whose daughter is there as a freshman. You do your two monologues. If they like you they will ask you to do one of them over and film it. This is considered a callback. If you were not filmed, you are not in.
Does the same hold true for SUNY’s on-campus auditions?
My son auditioned on campus last year and was called back and then put on camera at that point. He was initially wait listed then admitted.
Does Purchase accept students separately for general admission?
Not that I know of…If you don’t get passed audition you aren’t admitted.
My S had a portfolio review for Theatre Design & Production at Purchase at NY Unifieds and received and email acceptance into the school yesterday. It did not mention that he was accepted into the D&P Program in the email. We called admissions today and they confirmed that he was accepted into the D&P program and that they are sending out emails this year first and then a snail mail letter/packet would come later.

D was filmed and was placed on the priority WL. Just found out and are thrilled! Now we wait…again…
