I'm a wanna-be gator.
For those of you who currently go to UF, could you post your general stats at the time of admission? Gpa, maybe some ecs, that's about it. Just seeing if I have a shot someday :) thanks

I'm not currently going to UF, but seeing as how I got accepted into UF and will attend in a few months, I think my stats may be helpful to you. ^.^

I see that you truly want to become a gator and seem slightly worried. Do not get discouraged by everyones stats here. It is important to remember the type of people who log onto these forums are usually going to have better grades (no offense to anyone lol). The people on here with 4.0uw and 1430s and what not are not the average student. I know people who were in the IB program that had decent extra curriculars, 3.7uw, 1250 that got in. This year was not as bad in difficulty of admission as everyone had thought from what I understand.

Ah, notoriusmt makes a fine point. Rather than look at the stats here, you should look at the stats of the average student population at UF. I should have pointed you in this direction sooner... here, look at UF's common data set for freshmen admission.

As you can see, most students got between a 24 and a 29 on their ACT, along with a 600-699 for both sections of their SAT (which implies that most got a total score of between 1200 and 1398 on the 1600 scale).

The GPA data is less encouraging, I am afraid. On a 4 point scale, most students who got in had a 3.75 or higher. But don't lose faith! I got in with my 3.58 just fine, and I even got into the honors college. You can get in even if you have stats below what most people had for certain areas; the important thing is that you want to go.

Girl, let me tell you something! I wasn't the best and brightest in my school and was in dropout prevention classes early in on in high school. But I cleaned up my act and when I applied to UF I had stats that "statistically" were not even better than like, 10% or something like that, of the admitted class. No one thought I would get in but statistically I was supposed to be rejected but, shoot, I was ACCEPTED!

My stats were:
SAT: 1170
ACT: 27
3.6 UF GPA
Accepted Fall 2008

Keep believing in yourself and do what you wanna do! Don't let anything keep you down! Dreams do come true! Anything is possible!

judging from my experiences and what I've seen, aim to get a 4.2 GPA, and you're safe. SATs don't matter.

3.95/4.0 GPA
Rank #1 or #2
SAT: 1390 =( =( =(

my bff got a 1060 and she got in for uf'12. i think you have to write a powerful essay and being a minority may help.

er.......although asian may not fall under minority for college apps.

3.5/4.45 GPA
1590 SAT
Pathetic ec's

It does; sometimes a little too much

Okay, thanks. The GPA is going to be the hardest for me definitely. And I can't really help that I'm not a minority... =/ damn irish ancestors! Jk but this helped

3.92/4.35W GPA
1450/1600 SAT
Decent EC's

Bumping this for the heck of it :)

So the results are in- my current uw GPA is 3.57. I still have time though of course, I'm an incoming sophomore. But anyways I learned that the highest possible GPA that I could apply to college with is a 3.86. That's unlikely since that would mean getting completely straight A's for the next two years (I got a's, b's, c's, and even d's last year) but I guess I'll have to try!

GPA UW : 3.89 , W: 4.36

It's really a crap shoot these days.
I was rejected with what I thought were decent stats, while others in my class were accepted with much lower stats and hardly an ECs.

I don't think UF puts alot of weight on SATs, I know people who got in with lower SAT scores but they had above 4.0 GPAs. Just make sure you don't slack off esp. junior year.
