Harvard =)

College: Anything. Aim for 170+ on your LSAT and get a high GPA in almost any major. Even a 3.8 at "Insert Tier 3 State U" is very helpful in admissions. LSAT score is #1 though.

True, mostly it is all about the LSAT. The thing is to pick a good major. Mathematics won't necessarily help too much. It is good, but you need to enhance such skills like writing. Majors in English, Philosophy, and Political Science are good for law school.

I'd basically go down the list, HYPS, Williams, Duke, Dartmouth, Brown, Columbia...though any school will do it for you if not one of the above

^^^^
Why'd you skip past Amherst to mention Brown and Columbia ;)

We're actually higher enrolled at Yale and Harvard Law than both.

The schools with the highest LSAT averages for 2005 were:

Harvard University - 166
Yale University - 165
Stanford - 164
MIT - 164
Duke - 164
Princeton -163
Columbia - 163
Amherst - 163
Williams - 163
Pomona - 163
Brown - 163
UPenn - 162
Chicago - 162
Cornell - 162
Claremont McKenna - 162
Dartmouth - 162
Swarthmore - 162
Rice - 161
Northwestern - 161
Georgetown - 161
Weslyan - 160

If that helps, but that could be either and indication of the quality of preperation (pre-law), the caliber and intellect of the students, or a combination of both.

Wow, apologies for skipping Amherst

HYPS, Williams, Duke, Dartmouth, Amherst, Brown, Columbia - good target schools you should focus on for prelaw

I wouldn't recommend MIT just because of how hard it is with all that science stuff....hehe

No, that's okay, I wouldn't have said anything, but you said Williams and that opened a can of worms, wont let them be the only good LAC :)

Wait ‘til posterx posts his list…….

Much as it pains me, I have to agree with this. Other schools probably best avoided are Caltech, Georgia Tech... basically any school that is known for harsh grading (of which the tech institutes are a prominent subset). The sad truth is that law school admissions is largely a numbers game, and if you go to a difficult school and get bad grades, nobody is going to care about the fact that your school is difficult. All they will care about is that you have bad grades. Sad but true.

^yep, my sentiments when I said that

thanks for the info guys!

do your research and you will find different schools prefer GPA over LSAT and vice versa, some will want work experience, etc
