If you or your kids are interested in a career in fashion design, Bravo TV has a reality program entitled "Project Runway," which is hosted by Heidi Klum and found on TV every Wednesday evening.

It takes 16 designers, although 4 have been cut by now, and gives them a fashion challenge to design something. It is hosted by Parson's School of Design. The Dean of the fashion design department is an advisor to the designers. Essentially, it is the "American Idol" of fashion design.

You will be amazed at the skills necessary to be a fashion designer.

By the way, the reason I know about it is that one of the designers, Marla, is a childhood friend of my wife.

I saw this- it looks great compared to the other reality tv shows- backstabbing and plotting wont help you here- and the show I watched where they designed clothes for rock bands- really illustrated what is successful and why.
pretty creative

I love this show! I went to a fashion merchandising and design college with a stint in Paris. It's right up my alley. It's a difficult business and like all creative jobs there are many more well paid and satisfying jobs in the fashion industry than being a designer (I produced fashion shows). Willing to relocate to NY or LA is a must.

I love this show, too. I have no interest in fashion, myself, but one of my good friends is applying to Parsons, RISD, and a whole bunch of other school I would never stand a chance at! It's definitely entertaining and much more wholesome than some reality shows.
