I heard that juniors definitely get recruitment letters and other things like that from colleges and institutions if they score well on the PSAT. Does this apply to sophomores as well?

I got stuff even when I was a freshman. So my guess would be yes, you would.

Thanks! When did you start receiving mail?

Yeah… I also got a few stuff from universities since freshmen year (nothing I’m really interested in though)

you bet they do!

oh yeah. i’ve been getting mail since february and its not going to stop anytime soon haha

Definitely. I think I got my first college mail january of sophomore year. I liked it at the time, now not so much.

Yea. If I could go back, I would have just done research and signed on to the mailing lists of 30 or so colleges I was really interested in rather than checking the “please spam me constantly, bi-directional universities from other states” box on the PSATs sophomore year.

Can’t complain too much, I never would have found out about Macalester were it not for their mailings and now I’m applying there.

lol I’ve learned that so many colleges exist.
I hate awkward phone calls and mass produced letters from alumni though.

I got stuff from the middle of my freshman year to the end of the summer after I graduated. I would say on average more than one piece of mail per day and about 5 emails per day.

One of the great things about college is the end of that harassment.

(also, if you put your regular email address on the PSAT I would suggest getting a new one)

lol

Caller: Hi, I’m a student from Pace University.
Me: Hello
Caller: Have you ever heard of Pace University?
Me: Um, I think so
Caller: Do you currently have any interest in attending Pace University?
Me: No
Caller: Would you like to hear more about Pace University?
Me: Not really
Caller: Ok, thank you for your time

Yes. That was when I first started receiving shitloads of mail from the most obscure schools.

Don’t check that little box if you know what’s best for you

YES. And it all comes at once. I got 16 letters the first day.

Ya, checking that box was a mistake.

(also, if you put your regular email address on the PSAT I would suggest getting a new one)

Uh oh. And I get enough spam as it is! >:-(

Oh lol that’s funny. Now that I think about it, I put my home phone number down too. Yikes. And I thought the Student Search was a cool thing!

By the way, I’m having trouble quoting other people on CC. I click “reply” to their comment, and down in the Quick Reply box, check the “Quote message in reply” box, but none of them are being quoted. Any advice?

Yea I’ve gotten those since after freshman psat. They’re more junk than anything else. You’ll be begging for it to end, especially if your inbox ends up like mine…>5k of junk college email accumulated since freshman year.
