If you're considering taking Bordel for Physics next semester, click this thread.

i've seen a few threads asking how Bordel is, so i decided to upload her MT1 stats for you guys. i'm in Zettl's class right now, but i have access to her MT1 stats. use this information for what it's worth i guess.

Bordel MT1 Stats

her Midterm looks to be much easier than Zettl's, which is a bad thing. harder exams means you get a better grade.

keep in mind, DeWeese does not curve and does write rather easy tests

I can’t access the link you posted. Could you summarize what the MT1 stats are?

I like Deweese (have him right now) but I doubt I will be able to get into his class because it’s full and my telebears appointment isn’t for a while. Is it not worth it taking 8b with Bordel then?

The physics department determines how many A’s the class can give out, NOT the professor. If you feel you need a really good professor to help you do well in the class, then take it later on, though in my opinion, none of the professors are that good anyway. A lot of them know physics really well so they tend to derive/teach the basics in lecture and that may not be that important for the class since you need to know how to solve problems. I think that for physics, the quality of your GSI makes a bigger difference since in section, you learn to solve problems.

Yes, having a hard exams will result in a curve so you’ll get a better grade. This tends to help the people who really actually understand physics. Making a tiny mistake here and there because of math won’t hurt your grade. If you don’t understand physics, then take the professor who gives the easy exams, you can basically copy down hw problems/memorize how to solve problems and score decently enough on the exam to do well. If you try to take the hard prof’s exam in which you really need to understand physics, you won’t do well. And there will be people who will do well so the curve may help you, but not that much.

With that said, I don’t think holding off on taking Physics 8B is that worth it just b/c the other professor isn’t as great. There’s a chance that next semester you may get a bad telebears and not get in the better professor’s section anyway.
