If you're in state you have it made.

I just realized this and wanted to share it with you all.

Yep. HS students in the states of Virginia, Michigan and California all have very easy access to top 25 universities. It's a nice option :) .

That is so true and it makes me jealous. I hate Massachusetts...

Even Brown?! Duke?! Princeton?! Gasp Even Harvard?!

I highly doubt it.

That's not what I said, hairypotty.

They just meant public schools...everyone has it tough getting into top private schools.

I know. I'm just trying to reach 1000 posts, even my posts are just full of BS.

Ok then....have fun with that.

Just 442 more posts.

Now 441 left! Yay!

pointless posts will likely get you in trouble...

that said, I don't go to UVA... but I'm very happy that I live in Virginia. I realize how lucky VA residents are to have quality state schools.

Virginia has four of the nations top public schools-UVa, James Madison, Virginia Tech, and William & Mary. Sometimes I truly wonder why I went to the University of Tennessee instead of an in state public school. Hopefully I can correct that error by transferring to UVa or Tech. In my opinion the only out of state school worth going to is UNC. Oh well, you live and you learn.

Volman, I hope you're not grouping UVA and W&M together with JMU and VT...lol.

I am grouping them together simply because they're public schools and they're good. You could put Virginia Tech in some states and it would be by far the best school in that state. If that makes sense. I was just stating that Virginia has an amazing public education system. I know that there is no comparison between UVa and WM with Tech, unless if you want to talk athletic lol.

cavalier i hope you arent grouping VT and JMU together either!

JMU:
acceptance rate: 68%
28% top 10% of high school
74% top 25% of high school
68% had HS gpa 3.5+
SAT (mid 50) 1070-1250

VT:
acceptance rate: 72%
37% in top 10% of HS class
78% in top 25% of HS class
74% had HS gpa 3.5+
SAT (mid 50) 1110-1290

... they belong in the same group. (info from collegeboard)

ya except VT gives one of the best engineering educations in the nation.

theres more to it then stats big guy, they definatly dont

btw VT is ranked 70's on top national universities, JMU isnt on the list, trust me they dont belong on the same level. if you wanted to be an engineer and you had a choice between VT and JMU im pretty sure we all would choose the same school without a blink of an eye

o yea and btw...the middle 50% for UVA and GW are approx the same according to your website

does that mean they r on the same level too?

The engineering program at Tech is way better than JMU, obviously. Where would you go if you wanted to major in Quantitative Finance?

GW:
59% in top 10% HS

UVA:
86% in top 10% HS

JMU doesn't have engineering

you get an A+ for stating the obvious!
