Does the awards section include athletic awards, or do they only accept academic-focused awards?

I went to a friend's school this year to hear a panel of admissions people(including one from Penn) answer questions, and someone asked about awards and ECs like National Leadership. Some of these conferences do give out scholarships. Also, for kids who can't afford something like that, it NEVER looks bad not to participate. On the other hand, if you can afford to take advantage of a leadership conference that's not necessarily bad - you were active and wanting to participate in something like that and that's good, too. Of course, the best is probably leadership in something you do on your own initiative all throughout the year. But no, they said it's not a negative thing to put down at all, and can be seen as a positive if it's in line with your interests.

how about...Who's Who among American High School Students?

at the high school age applying to college, its okay to put down NSLC or any other summer programs regardless of how small or prestigious they are. It still shows admissions something that u did over the summer.
