Hello,
My community college accepts SAT 2 scores for the foreign language requirement for IGETC.
In my TAU, should I mention in the “additional comments” section that my SAT2 scores satisfied the foreign-language requirement for IGETC? I ask this because I worry that the admissions person might think: “Hey, this person is lying about being IGETC-certified before transfer because he never took a foreign language course”.
I asked UCLA admissions office about this and they told me that I can mention it in the additional comments section if I want.
What do you think I should do?
Thank you!
I would confirm with your cc that they will in fact honor the SAT2 for your foreign language requirement on your IGETC. If they do, then you wouldn’t be lying. You would in fact be IGETC-certified.
At my cc you have to submit an application to become IGETC certified. They sent me a letter a month or so ago saying I’m approved and on track for it as long as I continue and pass the courses I stated when I submitted the application. Did your college do this?
@sugarbabies3 Yes, I have already confirmed with my CC. What I’m afraid of is the admissions personnel not knowing that my CC accepts SAT2 scores, and would thus suspect me of lying.
Based on the information I’ve seen, I believe that you’re supposed to request certification only when requesting transcripts for submission to the college you wish to attend (after you are admitted of course) (this is how it’s done at my CC, I believe).
