Hi, I'm looking to transfer to UCSD in winter. Anyone know whether the deadline for sending in the IGETC Certification is September 15, 2009 (as it says on the UCSD website) or October 21, 2009 (as it says on Assist.org)?

I didn't really pay attention to the deadlines, till I was told that it takes months for the IGETC certification. I filled out the form just yesterday. I was told that it could take till January for my IGETC certification... Any advice?

I may be missing something, but it shouldn’t take months for the certification. I went in to my counseling center and got it certified in one day.

That’s odd. I don’t think our college does that, though the admissions office told me to “check” with counseling to make sure I’ve met the requirements. They told me it would take at least 8 weeks after semester’s end for the actual certification.

On a side note, I just found out that the official deadline’s October 21, and NOT September 15 like it says on SD’s website, for those interested.

Agreed, it “shouldn’t” but colleges operate differently. To the OP, contract your admissions officer ASAP and explain your situation. I believe you’re given about 10 additional days after the July 15th deadline to get in your final transcripts, certification, etc… Try pestering the graduation office or whatever office that’s in charge of certification daily at your CC to get it done.
