IGETC, computer science, and transferring to Berkeley?

Hi I'm new on college confidential. I want to transfer to UC Berkeley for fall of 2014. My Major of interest is computer science. I go to the College of San Mateo community college currently. I am just about to be done with my first year of college. I am hoping to apply to schools this November.

How important is completing the IGETC? What if I am missing 2 GE's by the end of next Spring but will have all prereqs done except the no courses articulated (will have done: calc 1, calc 2, linear algebra, diff equations)? I will also have done two sems of chemistry labs (the 1st sem chem lab will satisfy area 5 part C of IGETC), a java programming class, a java data structures, and calc 3 done.

Based on realistic calculations, my GPA by the end of this fall would range from 3.46 to 3.61. I didn't include spring because I hear the UC's can't really get that information since decisions would have made before the end of spring.

I don't have any ECs, but I am hoping to get a job this summer and keep it till I transfer, (15-20 hours a week), and hopefully I can find some volunteer work until I transfer also.

I have one W on my transcript, it happened this semester on my transcript, the physics-based calculus (mechanics) course. I dropped because I had 16 units and I couldn't handle the load. I am thinking of taking the two sems of chem labs since a few other schools I want to apply to say I can choose between two sems of chem labs or three sems of physics-based calculus.

Also, if you can comment on my chances, that would be great also. Thanks guys.
