igetc foreign language transferable units

hi, I'm a cc student and I took Spanish 1, 2, 3 in high school and passed all of them. i have fulfilled the foreign language requirement, (all of which are 5 unit classes each in my cc). Does that mean I gain 15 transferable units?

I don’t think you actually get units persay (since they were high school classes). You need to have your HS send an official transcript to your CC so they can use it when certifying you for IGETC. You would get units for Spanish if it was AP Spanish Lit/Lang and you got 3+ on the AP test.

So I wouldn’t get any credits at all for fulfilling the foreign language requirement with my high school Spanish courses? Credits that are applicable to the 60 units required to transfer, but not counted towards my GPA whatsoever?

You’ll only get the 5 units, not 15. And it does not effect your GPA
