hey everyone so far I've attended two different CC's in two different districts. I've completed 24 units in one and and am currently doing 15 units in my new CC.

I have a question about how this would affect my IGETC certification. Would the two colleges have to submit two different IGETC certifications to make on whole certification? Or does the school I'm transferring from do everything?

Also, what happens if one course from one college is IGETC-certified but the equivalent course in another college is NOT listed on the igetc? For example I took Intro to Music Theory which satisfied my Arts requirements at my old college but the equivalent Music Theory course at my new CC is NOT listed on the IGETC as far as I can tell. Can I still get credit for this class?

you generally have to do IGETC certification from every university you attended, unless they’re in the same district. LACCD for example covers 9 colleges. so if you went to three colleges in the district for example (ELAC, WLAC, and LACC) you wouldn’t have to submit more than one because they’re all in the same district. however if you went to one of the aforementioned colleges and then tried to go to one not in the district (for example, PCC or GCC) then you’d probably have to submit a second one.

if the class was listed as IGETC certified you shouldn’t have any problems.

To answer your question, you have to send transcripts from 1st college to 2nd college.

The 2nd college does all of the IGETC work, also don’t forget to get your HS transcripts to your 2nd CC (For the foreign language requirement). They will put the transcripts on file and refer to them when you ask to get your IGETC Certification.

I had to get transcripts in the last week and got my IGETC certification done on the last day before the transcript deadline for UCSD this year.
