The thing with physics 101 is that it's a 3 credit course with a lab in there, NOT a separate lab...but for some reason it says all lab classes must be 4 units or more. WT-F?!?!?! The other counselors said my physics would be fine but now Ii'm hearing otherwise.

I don't want to take a lab and actually can't even fit it in for next semester--they're all closed/taken already, and even if they weren't all my classes are back to back and are during the lab times.

what should I do!?? I'm so confused. Three counselors are telling me completely different things and makes me wonder if they should even be paid for their rhetorical BS! If I didn't have this "extra" lab thing would it jeopardize my admissiosn chances at ucla/berk/ucsb? sorry i'm just annoyed X_X

Who is saying that all courses with a lab must be 4 units?

Do you have a copy of the Physics course description where it mentions the lab? If so, you might be able to e-mail the UC and present that as your “evidence”.

well here’s the thing–
it’s a 3 unit course with a lab included, but this year they upped it to a 4 unit course. SO
i don’t know if the description is available from previous years X_x
i’m so frustrated.
if, for example, i don’t have a lab, will that mean automatic rejection?

You wouldn’t happen to have saved the syllabus, would you? Could you contact the teacher and ask for an old one? Do you have any hard copy course catalogs from previous semesters?

No, it isn’t automatic rejection but it gets tricky if you say you are IGETC certified and you’re not. Again, it is best to contact the school and let them know what’s going on and ask their advice. Get it in writing so you can point to it if it comes up again. You don’t have to be IGETC certified to get into a UC, it just means that you won’t have to take any more lower division courses once you get there.

Isn’t it 3 units and he lab is 1 unit? If it’s a total of only 3 units then you should be worried. Contact your IGETC certification department at Moorpark…this dept or person is prob in the admissions & records office.

SMCguy–well oddly enough I looked up the course catalogue at the college I took it at and it says 4 units but on the transcript it says 3. weird? lol
i just don’t care like i’d rather just i don’t know. college has been a weird journey for me so far so it’s just kinda adding fuel to the fire lol.

This is quite simple really. did you do labwork or was it just lecture. If you didnt, then its a 3 unit course. if you did, then contact your prof and ask why its not a 4 unit course.

also even if i HAD to take a lab next semester i can’t! they’re all taken and my classes are as is, I have to take them how they are to fit in work :-
So i’m just kind of like you know if I leave one lab out even THOUGH I did take lab with the class lol I wonder if they’d reject just on that?
