I'm a little confused. Area 6 of the IGETC requires completion of 3 semesters of lang, but UC counselors say completion is not necessary for transfer. I'm only in my first semester of Spanish and planning to take Span101B next semester. Will this prevent me from being IGETC certified? Need some clarification...

One semester of Spanish should satisfy the IGETC requirement.

Yes, one semester at a CCC, OR 2 years in High School with a grade of C or better, satisfies the Language Other than English requirement. At least that’s what the policy is at my Community College

thank you!

I also need input on this as well. I go to Pierce and it seems as if everyone has their own opinion. I thought that you need to take Spanish 1 as a prereq in order to take Spanish 2 which is the class that is used for IGETC Ceritfication. But apparently the assessment center says there is no prereq required for 2. So will taking just Spanish 2 complete the requirement?
