I just read the FAQ and have a possibly stupid question. I know that you don't have to complete IGETC courses or major prerequisites until the time you transfer, not by the time that you apply. But I also read that completing both gives you a better chance of admission. So...if you haven't finished IGETC/prereqs until spring semester, but apply during the fall semester, how will the admission committees look at you?

Same as 95% of everyone else that doesn't have them complete until the Spring prior to transferring?

Haha. I know, but from what I've read, completing IGETC gives you a higher shot at getting in. Since 95% of all applicants don't complete them until spring, and decisions are made before then...how does this work out?

They admit you assuming you're gonna complete those classes. If they admit you and you don't, they can easily rescind your admission--although I don't know if they would do that over IGETC.

Thank you!

Does it matter how many of the classes you've completed before applying? It's just that I wasted my first quarter on classes I didn't need, and I'm sort of afraid that might affect something.

No, it does not matter as long as you will have 60 by the time you transfer.
