Igetc or Major prere, which one is more important?

my situation is:
1. currently enroll at csu, totally have 26 semester credits(20 from ap, 3 from geo class, 3 from accounting class(not fulfill Igetc or prere.)
2. going to transfer to a cc in 08 fall

could any one tell me that:
1. should i take any classes in summer school(csu) to fulfill the igetc or prere. ?
i am not sure whether CSU classes are transferable to UC campus.
2. Igetc or Major prere. , which one i should finish first, if i want to transfer to UC at 09 fall

Both are essential in becoming a competitive transfer student. You should be able to check which classes are UC transferrable in your school's catalog. IGETC is merely a range of subjects that you have to cover before transferring. The major pre-reqs can be used as IGETC courses if they fall under its articulative list. Assist.org can help you see what pre-req. courses are need prior to transferring.

Taking classes during summer can help you speed up your time @ CSU.

Throughout your time at CSU, you should be taking IGETC courses and major prereq's that fall under UC-transferrable. Most pre-req's are UC-transferrable, but double check your catalogue just to make sure. You should also speak with a counselor for any additional questions that you have.

If you are going to transfer to CC and plan on transferring from CC then i suggest you limit your CSU units and do not take summer school unless you will take the summer school at CC.

Depending on which UC you want to transfer to, it may or may not require iGETC. Some programs or schools within the UC of your choice may actually require IGETC. All that IGETC does is satisfy general education requirements, there are other ways to satisfy the GE req for a UC.

What are your scores on the AP exams, you may or may not get credit for each of the exams you passed depending on your scores.

What major are you looking at, what UC campuses?

If your major is very competative you will need to have as many preqs done as possible, if your major is not highly competative you should still try to get them done but it is not as important.

Grammar. Use some.

Also, you should really do your best to do both for most majors. Incomplete IGETC doesn't really count for anything, while you get some credit for doing some of the prereqs

to Malishka:
I scored 3 on calc bc and four 4s on econ and physic c.
My target campus is UCLA and target major is math/econ.
