Hi, I was admitted to ucb for spring term 2016. They accepted me into L&S. In the spring term, I dropped one of my igetc classes, an econ class. So now, I only have my partial igetc, and I know ucb does not accept partial igetc. Does ucb allow me to fullfill my igetc on summer or even on fall semester? I doubt because I am a spring admitted. This is my only missing class and I have completed over 72 transferable semester units for transferring. Any expert or experiences? my back up school is UCSD because UCSD accepts me the consequence of a dropping class. I have called them couple of times, they do not answer hypothetical question. I hope anyone in here can help me out.
I meant they accepted me to spring term 2017. I dropped igetc class on spring 2016
How can it be hypothetical since you already dropped the class? Did you send in your transcripts for them to review?
They do not answer directly in the phone call. They basically say they may or may not let you finish over summer. I haven’t sent my transcript out yet.
I believe L&S is very firm on full IGETC by spring. Prepare for a likely rescind.
So when you talk to Berkeley they said they may or may not let you finish. Why would you trust the answer someone gives you here over what they’ve told you?
Like you said, they don’t accept partial IGETC. This is from this year’s admission contract (I assume yours has this just as mine does):
“Summer Session 2016: I understand that I may not attend Summer Sessions 2016 for the purpose of completing a minimum of 60 UC-transferable semester units, IGETC, UC Reciprocity, or General Education/Breadth requirements.”
It doesn’t specify whether that is the case for spring admits, but I would venture to say it does. I would take the course this summer or spring and reapply for Fall 2017 admission. It’s just one more semester, not a full year. It’d be surprising if you weren’t accepted the second time around (assuming you do well in the course in question!). Good luck.
Disclaimer: Speculation. Berkeley knows more than me, obviously.
