For IGETC Area 4 (Social and Behavioral Sciences), I plan on taking Psychology 101 and using two of my AP tests for the rest of the requirements. (AP Macroeconomics and AP US History). Is it okay to use two AP tests for one area of IGETC? I am not using the tests for any other areas of IGETC. Or, for each area of IGETC, can I only use 1 AP Test?

Also, for UCLA they say they accept transfers with 60-70 credits. Does this mean you are automatically rejected if you have over 70 credits? Is it the more credits the better? For example, all other factors constant (i.e. GPA, pre reqs met, etc), if one applicant had 67 credits and another had 62, would they prefer the one with more credits?

To answer your second paragraph, 70 is the max amount that UCLA transfers; subject credit is granted for all transferable classes, but you enter with no more than 70 credits. I’ve never seen number of credits used as a determining factor in admissions.

As for whether you’re auto-rejected for excess units…

Will a uc accept you if you have all igetc courses except math? I explained my situation in my essay i failed a math course and didnt have a chance to retake it. Ucsb to ccc to hopefully UCI for film and media … Ucsb gpa 2.94 and ccc gpa with 3.94 and 43 units…What do you think?

Thank you rshie002 for answering my question!

Julia, I don’t know much about UCI, but the film major is usually pretty competitive. Assuming you took the same number of credits at ucsb and ccc, your average GPA of 3.44 is kind of low. But if more of your credits were at ccc, it would be higher… It’s hard to say.
