Hey guys,

At the bottom of the IGETC sheet there is a little icon with the words "Transfer credit is limited by either UC or CSU or both. Please consult with a counselor." Do any of you know what this means exactly? Does it mean that some courses may not satisfy parts of IGETC with a particular college OR is it saying that you may not receive the number of units the course says it offers (hence "transfer credit is limited..."?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Let’s say you’re taking German 1A instead of German 1, and on the IGETC sheet, it has an asterisk next to German 1A/1B (where German 1 is split up into two semesters or quarters) denoting “transfer credit is limited by either UC or CSU or both.” What that means is that in order for that German class to count towards transfer credit, you would need to take both German 1A/1B.

Likewise, if you are taking two similar math courses (such as regular Calculus and Calculus for Bio Majors), you only get credit for one course, not both.

That’s just for my college though; it might be different at yours, so you may need to consult with a counselor as it mentions.

Thank you very much for your reply! I’m taking Mandarin 3 right now and it has an asterisk by the course label (MAND 3), but MAND 2 also appears as MAND 2*. I’m guessing that based on your reply, it means that I should take both MAND 2 and MAND 3 for the credit to count right?

I’m going to check with the counselors regarding this matter the coming week.
