I was wondering if I took a Physics class for pass credit, if it would be able to fullfill the requirement in sciences for IGETC even though it wasn't for a letter grade?

Both major and non-major physics in listed in IGETC form o_O

I think you would want to communicate with some counselors on that one.

This is from my perspective…

AP credit is counted on the IGETC. I took Spanish 4 and 5 and passed both of them, and my CCC gave me “credit/no credit” on my transcript and they were allowed on my IGETC. So…I’m going to say they would say the same thing for your pass/fail class…but I would double-check. On the UC Transfer Admissions it says as long as you don’t have 11 semesters with pass/fail units then you’re good!

But again, double check please!

Good luck! [:

Hey Sweetnezz,

I am 2000% sure on this one because I had the same question and I did a lot of research one this one. Also, I had confirmed with a “decent” counselor at my school (which there aren’t that many) and she gave me a print out on details for IGETC.

So to answer your question, you need to make sure: 1. what is your school’s policy (check on your CCC’s catalog)? If it says a Pass or Credit means C or higher, than yes, it satisfies for IGETC. 2. Make sure you don’t exceed 12 units (I am not really sure of the exact number of units) of Pass/Credit units that are apply for your IGETC. And lastly, make sure that class is NOT one of your re-reqs.

Take care!

Yes you can take IGETC courses Pass /Fail as long as that course is not a preq for your major.

I took English Pass/Fail for IGETC (the second part of the english requirement)

You can not take more than 14 semester units p/f(this was the case 3 years ago, it might change now)

k got it, thanks so much guys. the class is not a pre-req for my major and it’s my only class that is taken with a pass so hopefully it works out :-)

sweetnezz I am taking biology with lab this semester as credit no credit, counselor says its perfectly fine to take any class thats not a prereq as credit/no credit so your in the ball park. good luck!
