I took two years of spanish in an OOS high school. Is this good enough to complete the foreign language requirement? I believe I earned a C in both spanish 1 and 2. I am hoping to transfer to UCLA in 2011 for psychology, so I obviously want to be competitive. Is it required I take 2 semesters of foreign language at my CCC? Does sign language count as a foreign language? Any help would be great my priority registration is next week, so I'm trying to figure out what I need to take!

You need 3 or more years of the same foreign language with a C or better at high school to fulfill IGETC requirements.

or

Up to Level 2 of the same foreign language at your CCC.

American Sign Language does fulfill the language requirement :)

According to the copy of IGETC on my CCC’s schedule of classes, you only need 2 years of foreign language with a C or better to fulfill the requirement.

…Maybe it’s different for different colleges?

^ No you’re right…i am wrong. IGETC completion is 2 years of the same foreign language with a C or better in high school or up to Level 2 of the same language at CCC… 3 years of the same foreign language in high school is for the L&S requirement at Berkeley…

sorry my mind is confused…i have been thinking of both Los Angeles and Berkeley for a long time…my brain is fried.

:)

So I am good with my 2 semester of spanish in HS? Would I be much more competitive if I took spanish at my CCC? I’ll have IGETC complete by summer and the psych pre-reqs done by fall. I currently have a 4.0 from my CCC but averaged in with my GPA from an OOSU I have like a 3.744.
