Hi. I tried to find this information elsewhere on the site but wasn’t successful.
What are the implications of having someone on your Ignore List? I just noticed that was available.
Is it like a Facebook Unfollow where their posts don’t show up in your news feed, e.g. threads started by them do not show in a general forum home page or “Latest Posts,” but you can still see their list of responses if you visit their profile, and you can see their comments in threads started by others?
Or is it like a Facebook Block, where you can’t see anything they post and they can’t see anything you post?
Threads started by people you ignore do still show up wherever they are. They can still see everything you post. The only thing it does is “block” comments by them in threads. You see their icon and name, but the content is blocked out until you click on it. So, it’s helpful if you’d rather just skim over something someone posts.
I think the “promote” feature will auto-format the post content into a colorful Holiday Placemat for you to print and share with your family, to navigate difficult conversations w them during Xmas Break.
Ah, okay…I seem now to recall it is only viewable at the admin or mod level. That said, I have never used it myself. I do wonder how the previous member in this thread knew to ask about “promote”.
When you look at a profile, under “reaction to your posts”, it has Promote / Like / Helpful. Which seems pointless since Promote is always at 0 while the others aren’t.
Yeah, you are seeing the tally, as opposed to a button or link to actually promote. As I alluded to earlier, no mods or admins use the Promote link that we see displayed beneath each post, so it may always be 0.
Yes, I was just pointing out that that is how that member knew to ask about it. If no one uses the Promote link, and most of us can’t even see it, how do things get on the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/bestof/everything? They hardly seem like the “Best of” imo…
It appears to have something to do with the number of likes. I clicked on a few of those posts and all had at least five likes. Perhaps the promote feature as we see it on the mod/admin side is indeed useless. No news there
