ignore my other thread. chances for ivy???

I had another thread, but I wasn't being very realistic on that one, so please ignore it :D.

I'm an Asian American fresh(wo)man (came to America when I was 5), and I was wondering about my chances at a top Ivy League school (Harvard, Yale, and Princeton are my preferred schools).

Academics:
current GPA: 4.458 (weighted)
straight-A student, currently taking max. number of honors classes

here are my projections for APs for the next 3 years:
Sophomore year: AP Calc BC, AP Euro, AP Spanish Language, AP Chemistry
Junior year: AP Stat, AP U.S. Gov., AP U.S. History, AP Spanish Literature
Senior year: AP English, AP Psychology, AP Biology, AP Economy

i am expecting 4/5's on all of these, because my school has very high AP scores, and i generally do pretty well on standardized tests and academics.

i am 1/2/3 out of 160 students.
my high school is a private prep. school, top 50 in the nation.

EC

Leadership:
Freshman-Sophomore years: Judicial Committee (2 people are voted out of each grade to serve for 2 years)

I am expecting to become VP in Jr. year, because i ran a very close race this year for president against some top contenders, and we have a not-so-great VP this year, so chances are looking pretty good.

Clubs:
JSA - Junior State of America (politics). hope to run for leadership next year.
Spanish Club - might run for leadership next year
Debate - been to 2 nationally recognized tournaments so far, placed 6th speaker in one, but haven't "broken" into elims. yet.
Art - placed in some national competitions
Piano - Level X (CM) by 8th grade, testing again freshman year so it can show up for college, too :)
Literary Magazine - haven't done much in this one

Sports:
Varsity XC - most likely captain by jr. year
JV bball

Work Experience:
worked at Subway last year for some experience :P

i know that i'm still a freshman, but i would reallllly appreciate some feedback on my chances and what i should improve on/keep up if i want to get into my dream schools!! :D

Honey, you're a freshman. Go outside and play in the grass instead of worrying about colleges. You've got a loooongg way to go, and you are going to change a LOT.

PS when i was a frosh, i had a projected schedule like yours too. Beleive you me, I am not taking AP physics,Englihs,Spanish,Economics, Government, Chemistry, Calculus, and Statistics right now. There is absolutely no way you can project what colleges you are going to, or what chances you have. Honestly, you're like.. what? 14? Focus on exploration, finding things you are passionate about instead of blindly signing up for activities that will get you into a school.

Schools like that look for kids who are passionate about things, anything, really. Not mindless robots who have dedicated their lives to getting into HYPwherever else. I promise you, find some passion, don't do things solely to place it on your transcript, find love for learning, reevaluate why you really want to go to those schools. College is not your life. It should not be some ultimate goal- because, say you actually get into the school. You'll be at Harvard.. and you won't know what to do. Find some meaning for your life that transcends prestigious colleges.

And seriously. You're so bloody young. Do. Not. Worry. About. This. Now.

Keep it up and you will have as good a chance as any. Just make sure you understand your classes well so you can get great SAT scores.

What's strange is you're tackling all of the notoriously hard AP classes in your Sophomore year...

Looking good, though. Keep this up and you don't have to worry about a thing---you excel in every area. Just do well on the APs, the SATIs, and the SATIIs, and maybe get in some volunteering.

IMO while its great that you're already thinking about college, I have to agree with wondrlst that as a freshman, you've got a long way to go and you will probably change your ideas and plans more than a few times.

Maintain you grades and focus, but don't forget to enjoy HS along the way. College isn't all about scores and stats, its about the whole person. The last thing you want to do is become caught up in the "world of CC" before your time -- my advice is: log out now, and for the next four years concentrate on school, get involved, make friends and soak up as much as you can from the world around you.

It's the well-rounded person behind the amazing transcript that will have the edge when it's time to apply for college.

Good luck!
