Ignore the old thread. Not like you weren't, anyway. Okay, CHANCE.

-in or out?

Anyway. These actually aren't mine. Please chance my friend anyway- and sorry if some info is unclear.

Let's go!

Asian Male. (Bleh, I know.)

SAT IIs:

Biology M: 770
Math IIc: 800
Chemistry: 790
English: 750

Rank: I actually don't know. Best estimate: 200/approx. 1000

The Athletics

Cross Country: Freshman and Sophomore years.

Track: going to be all 4 years. Was on the "training team" first two years, just made the team this year (for competition status.)

The Extracirriculars

-USABO (didn't go to national finals, but went pretty far, as I recall.)
-USACO ("")
-Science Olympiad
-Math Team
-YES Competition, Regional Semifinalist
-Leo Club on campus, officer. Going to be 4 years.
-FBLA on campus, officer. Going to be 3 years. Got 4/5 (forgot) at State in Impromptu Speaking.
-Red Cross Club. Officer? I'm not sure. Goinng to be 2 years.
-Started a chapter of Jaycees on campus, officer in that. 2 years.
-Speech and Debate (Going to be 3 years, started sophomore year) did quite well- qualified to State twice.

-Planning on: Intel Talent Search, SIEMENS. Not going to win them, probably, but decently well- probably semifinalist or something. (See YES competition above.) I really don't know, though.

I know it'd be a lot easier if you knew exactly how well he did on his Olympiads and Competitions and stuff. Sorry.

Volunteering/Internships/Work

Volunteering:

400+ hours total. Haven't gotten that all together yet, though.

-Methodist Hospital: Work every other week at local hospital, for two years.

-USC University Hospital: One year.

-Red Cross: Various events, etc. Youth Corps leader, also active at club on campus.

-Various events with Track team, Leo Club, FBLA, whatnot.

Internships:

-UCLA Medical Center. Internship program. Don't know details. Pretty intense.

-City of Hope. Not sure if this was internship or volunteering. Not as intense.

Awards:

-FBLA 4 or 5
-Speech and Debate
-Actually, most of this was stated in ECs section.
-Probably some other stuff, probably not worth mentioning.
-NHS, CSF. That stuff too. Bleh.

COLLEGES

From most elite to least. In general. Okay, I might mess up some. I don't know this stuff.

Caltech (obviously a shoot.)
Stanford ("")
Washington University, St. Louis
UCB
UCLA
UCSD
USC
UCI

Major: Pre-med

Thanks. You guys rock.

Caltech- Reach
Stanford- Crapshoot
WUSTL- Low Reach/High Match
UCB- Match
UCLA-Low Match
USC- Low Match/Safety
UCI- Safety Safety (In case you don't get in your safety)

How's the UC GPA calculated?

....USACO?

...You mean...USNCO?

Well, it's a very...Asian applicant. But he seems to be well accomplished and not just accruing a laundry list of ECs, so I'd say he stands a chance at all. In fact, I think he has a nice list of reaches, matches, and safeties.

USACO=USA Chemistry Olympiad, doesn't it?
Oh, and would "crapshoot"="shot in the dark"? (Sorry, I sort of suck with CC terms.)

USACO = USA Computing Olympiad
USNCO = US National Chemistry Olympiad
