Arronie we are
on the same page lol
I got a 2070 on the sat and would have crossed 2200 min of given a chance to study. So I’m neither totally here nor there now. Shoot

errlow?? thats a pretty high rank for IIT (considering the state they are in)30 is darn good… last year it was back in the 100s or something perhaps theyve changed some methodologies this year

I go to Yukti for IIT and it is a ****hole.

@ansrox: IIT (if u get ur stream) > Cooper Union > Minnesota

well i dont know much about Cooper Union, but IIT cant even compare to the top 10 US engineering colleges, and you will turn out a better rounded person from almost any(i dont mean the extremely bad ones:P) university in the US

Hmmm I go to mprkash academy Pune. Used to actually. It rocks.
I hope I go to Cooper. My choice now. Cu>Iit>Minnesota

A question for those who have prepared for IITJEE and have taken AP tests: How helpful is IITJEE preparation as far as AP tests are concerned?
Thanks.

Different approaches.

As an American, let me tell you that the AP tests in science are all really easy compared to the JEE. If you have a passable understanding in any of physics chemistry or biology, you’ll get a 4 or a 5.

IIT-JEE cannot be compared to ANY other entrance/board exam. Period.

In terms of difficulty, I mean.

Does that mean one can study for AP Science and Math exams by oneself (without attending any classes) and do very well?

yes you can

Does that mean one can study for AP Science and Math exams by oneself (without attending any classes) and do very well?

Absolutely.

well guys seriously i think coaching system is not doing any good to education its just making people mug up things .
IIT sure is a big name in India and no matter how much u say people wont believe u they wil think iit as best .
other hand university like princeton, standford are way to big names then IIt dont try to cmpare them with iit . sum of there lecturers get niominate for nobel man its not a joke . so yah if u want a good package and a nice life screw iit . go to standford and all

^ It’s Stanford*. :|

"well guys seriously i think coaching system is not doing any good to education its just making people mug up things "
how can you say that?the teachers in most of them are highly skilled and can your school teachers can help you prepare for jee or can even solve it.

There is more to life than PCM and it’s sad to see our nation’s youth squander the vestiges of their teenage years on an exam which most of them haven’t a chance of acing for a university which isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

The thing is, I believe, that examinations, especially those requiring months or weeks of preparation, are a farce.

But they simply cannot be abolished, until the world reaches a state of ultimate self-sufficiency, and it is currently far from it.

Guys , Please stop this !! First of all , almost everybody is aware about this ! Secondly , It is the best you can get in India - Best in the sense , Its way way better than Colleges that are popping up in every corner !! Now if you compare it with the world , then I am pretty sure QS has shown mercy to IIT by giving IIT D and Bombay a Engg rank around 40 because in the Time Higher Ranking for Engg , sadly IIT doesnt even come in Top 100 ! So friends , yes Indeed the Engineering programs at IIT might not be as good as MIT , UCB , Georgia Tech , UIUC , Stanford , CalTech etc (Not just that classes are taken by Noble Laureates but also they offer wonderful research opportunities - for eg NCSA ,Google , AMD offer wonderful opportunities for CS students at UIUC ) … But by far , Its the best you can Get in India ! Plus , a good GPA at IIT can get you into a very good Grad school in US too ! Afterall Money matter - So please put an end to this thread !

AP is quite easy than IITJEE.
I am preparing for AP.
If you can get above 80% in CBSE 12th then you can get easily 5/5 in AP.
For SAT study for 1 month is O.K
I got 2368/2400 in SAT and for subject I am preparing simultaneously with AP.
Stop going to coaching classes.
There are several good guides floating on Internet.
You can try MIT OCW and Khan Academy.
