Well, IIT is in a not-so-nice neighborhood. And you gotta think that IIT and Rose-Hulmann wouldn't exactly have the prettiest girls. A lot people commute at UIC.

I'd go for UIUC, then Purdue second choice.

First of all, Rose has an 80:20 guy-to-girl ratio, and it shows. ISU students apparently come and hang out at the campus, though, so that boosts the population of those with two X chromosomes on the weekends, if that's what you go for. If you're a girl, there's naturally a pretty decently sized dating pool for you already.

From what I've heard, though, there's a fair amount of partying and college events. Homecoming is always a hit (massive bonfire). Sporting events are popular; the performance series (which will be anything from musicians to Grant from "Mythbusters" coming to speak to students) draws its fair share of attendees from the campus; and clubs also seem to be somewhat popular, too.

My visit to Terre Haute, however, demonstrated that it's not a very exciting town. It's a decent size, has a mall/bars/restaurants/whatnot, but if you're looking for non-stop excitement, it's not there. Some people drive to Indianapolis on weekends.

The food at Rose seems to be half-way decent, based on the one meal I had there, but, to quote one student, "You can tell it came pre-prepared from a factory, mostly." They're kind of strict in the dining hall--you can't bring bags in, generally, because they're paranoid you'll steal the food, oddly enough. There's also a Subway and a small restaurant in the basement of the Student Union, as well as a place to shoot some pool, I think.

UIC has the best campus life if you like being right in the downtown chicago's loop. IIT is on the south side (shady area). There are a ton of things right next to the campus like Greek Town and Little Italy. The lake is only a few blocks away.

If you get the dorms in JST which are the new ones, it is amazing inside. Its like a five star hotel and it has floor to ceiling glass windows in every room so you get the beautiful lake view + city skyline. Pick a high floor like floor 10 or 12 for best view. The tower lounges have 360 degree view of chicago and HDTV's as well as a grand piano.

I am living in JST and I love it! The other dorms which are also new are TBH and MRH but those are for upper classman only. It is expensive though! There are great places to eat right near the campus if you decide you dont want to eat in the schools caf. Be prepared to spend $$ tho!

You might also like the new fitness center. It has:
* 18,000 sq ft (1,700 m2). exercise room with equipment
* 1/8 mile, 3-lane jogging track
* 3-lane Lap and leisure pool including 50-person jacuzzi & a lazy river
* Racquetball and convertible squash courts
* 4 court wood floor gymnasium
* 11,000 sq ft (1,000 m2). Multi Activity Court
* Group fitness suites, including Spin Suite, Mind/Body Suite, Large Multipurpose Suite and the MAC Suite
* Human performance lab
* 42 ft (13 m). rock climbing wall
* Outdoor adventures office
* Juice and coffee bar
* Active and passive lounge areas
* Daily and annual use lockers

UIC is not a party school, a lot of kids are engineering/pre-med they are highly focused on studying hard. JST has these nice meeting rooms with projectors that kids often go to have group study sessions. The dorms are pretty quiet, drinking, smoking, etc is a no no. Parties do occur but only on weekends and not that often. People just hang out in their dorm living rooms with other students and just chill or go out into the city. Btw almost all the dorms on JST are singles so if you don't like to be bothered by roommates that's the best route to go.

So if you are a focused student bent on succeeding and not looking to join a fraternity, party often, etc. UIC will be a great fit.
