Iit

Hey Everyone I was interested in the IITs, and I was wondering how does it work for an international student to get into one of the IITs. And also, does IIT look into if your parents have gone to that school? My dad is an IIT graduate. Any information about IIT woul dbe helpful, or anyones insight on whether the IITs are any better than US schools such as Georgia Tech. Thanks again.

IIT deadline for this year has passed , I am not sure about all international applicants but there is some kindof provision for the ones in Dubai.IIT curriculum is very rigorous but if u are looking for research at undergrad level then Georgia Tech and ivies are a better choice because mostly undergrads are not a part of research in IIT’s, but its great from cost standpoint. In order to get admitted you need to pass a joint entrance exam(JEE),which about 500000 students take every year and only 10,000 are selceted but as far as your a General class candidate the number of seats available is about just 5000.
It provides nice education but the worst thing about it is that ,the major of ur choice is awarded on the basis of rank.I would suggest, look for US colleges if u have no problem in funding your education.

im looking into IIT next year. Is there a less competitive quota for coming from America? And does it help that my dad went there too?

nope ,theres no such quota, legacy factor plays no role here.
