Girl I just want to say, you’re going to rock it! I don’t have any chancing experience since I joined today, but I wish you the best of luck & I EAed the schools you want to EA ^.^

Thanks for the chance. Impressive scores and ECs. I’d say all are matches-high matches besides UChicago, the ivies (excluding Cornell) and MIT + Stanford which are low reaches (don’t worry- they’re reaches for everyone) but for them, you have a decent shot. Good luck.

You have a decent chance at an Ivy League. Your extracurriculars are solid and your scores are high, but your GPA is a little low.
You should look into the debate on asian americans getting rejected from some higher schools based on race

<a href=“Fears of an Asian Quota in the Ivy League - Room for Debate - NYTimes.com”>http://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2012/12/19/fears-of-an-asian-quota-in-the-ivy-league</a></p>

overall not a bad application.

please comment on my last post!

Yep, I’m aware of the whole quota/affirmative action thing, but it’s not like I can really do much about it haha

Well, youre a great candidate for Ivies. The GPA should actually be at 3.9 or higher by the time you apply, so try on. The ACT is wonderful and the ECs well concentrated. Id advice, search for non-asian roots and give them weightage on the common app. I too am a “typical” asian nerd (and international-even worse) in the junior year. But my maternal grandma had Arab (white) roots and my paternal grandpa had a little east african heritage. So I qualify for being Black (despite of being asian)!! CHANCE MEH BACCK http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1715279-chance-mr-g-for-cornell-duke-upenn-and-hopkins.html#latest</a></p>

And Im WARNING ALL OF YOU, nobody should apply ED for Cornell, itll lower my chances

You should get into most of these schools no problem.
However stanford may be a reach (it’s a reach for everyone)
:)

I think it will be difficult for you to be accepted into Stanford, Yale, Princeton, etc. I’m not going to use a calculator but if you got a 4.0 for this year your gpa would probably be like 3.8 or something? I dunno. That is statistically too low for these kinds of schools. Your standardized testing scores are just above the averages by a small margin. This will help you. I feel that the highest reach you would have a solid chance for would be ED to UPenn. It seems that you are interested in medicine so maybe Brown would be a good option for you as well. Both would be reaches but not unrealistic. Best of luck to you on your process.

MIT (EA): Good chance but still reach
University of Chicago (EA): Mid-reach
Columbia(Possible ED): Match/Reach
Cornell (Possible ED):Match/Low Reach
UPenn (Possible ED): Low Reach
Stanford (Possible SCEA): Reach
Northeastern (EA): Match/Low Reach
Carnegie Mellon: Match
NYU: Match
Georgetown: Probably match
Darthmouth: Reach
Brown: Reach
Yale: Reach
Duke: Match/Low Reach
U. Mich: Match
Princeton: Match/Low Reach
Vanderbilt: Low Reach
USC: Match
William and Marry: Match
The only reason I’ve marked some of these as reaches is because even though you have amazing credentials (except GPA) you can never be sure with these unis because they have turned down fantastic candidates before. Why don’t you try harvard as well? (also if I had to ED, I’d pick Columbia if I were you) Chance back?
<a href=“Chance me I'll chance you Cornell ED 2019 - Cornell University - College Confidential Forums”>Chance me I'll chance you Cornell ED 2019 - Cornell University - College Confidential Forums;

i’m interested in entrepreneurship/finance or medicine, but I came into high school thinking that medicine was for me without a doubt which is why so many of my EC’s are there. I’m going to most likely apply for pre med type majors but test the waters and decide after first semester. I will do all your chance backs ASAP :)

MIT (EA): Reach
University of Chicago (EA): Reach
Columbia(Possible ED): Match/Reach
Cornell (Possible ED): High Match/Low Reach
UPenn (Possible ED): Low Reach
Stanford (Possible SCEA): High Reach (5% admit rate, anyone?)
Northeastern (EA): High Match/Low Reach
Carnegie Mellon: Match
NYU: Match
Georgetown: High-ish Match
Darthmouth: Reach
Brown: Reach
Yale: Reach
Duke: High Match/Low Reach
RPI: Match
Boston College: Match
U. Mich: Match
Princeton: High Match/Low Reach
Vanderbilt: Low Reach
USC: High-ish Match
WUSTL: High Match/Possibly Low Reach
William and Marry: Match

Chance me back? Apologies for un-clickable link but I can’t figure out how to make it work otherwise.

talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1715887-what-are-my-odds-at-unc-mizzou-and-northwestern.html#latest

Your application from what I portray is undoubtedly incredible! You should be able to get into most schools you listed. Even for the ivies, I affirm your chances are pretty solid! You appear to be an A+ student in pretty much everything. Keep up the good work! And hey could you go to my thread for can I get accepted to Harvard and state my chances? That would be very helpful! This is my first day here  Good luck!

MIT (EA)- high reach
University of Chicago (EA)- low to mid reach
Columbia(Possible ED)- low reach
Cornell (Possible ED)- low reach, high match if ed
UPenn (Possible ED)- depending on school, but id say high match if ed
Stanford (Possible SCEA)- reach, but variable cuz they’re random
Northeastern (EA)- low match/safety
UVA (EA)- match
Carnegie Mellon- high match/match
NYU- match
Georgetown- high match
Darthmouth- lower reach
Brown- reach
Yale- reach
UNC- high match, maybe mid match?
Duke- high match
RPI- safety
Boston College- low match
U. Mich- match
Princeton- reach
Vanderbilt- high match
USC- high match
WUSTL- match-y, may get rejected if you dont show interest but stat wise should be a match
William and Marry- match to high safety

I know I said a lot of Ivies are reaches, but it’s not that your stats suck or anything (far from it, you have an amazing resume!) it’s just that they’re all very selective and random in selection. I bet you will get into at least one Ivy, if that’s what you really want, and at least 2-3 of the more selective schools (Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Duke). You have a lot of leadership which looks really good! What AP’s are you taking this year as a junior? Your GPA might be a weaker point, but an upward trend will look really good.
Good luck!

Chance me? I’m a junior too, ayy class of '16 pride
http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1715206-chances-for-georgetown-vanderbilt-nyu-northeastern-umd-cp-etc-chance-back.html#latest</a></p>

^ So Chicago EA is a mid reach, Cornell is a low reach and Dartmouth is a ‘lowish’ reach while Duke which has a RD acceptance rate that is lower than all three of those is a high match?

I was wondering, which ivies seem most flexible to switching majors after like the first semester? I’m thinking about applying for the major that I think I want to do, but frankly I do not know if I’m ready to lock myself into it!!! In general, I expect the ivies and chicago, mit, caltech to be reaches haha

Deffinatley have a great chance to get into most of these colleges all are extremely competitive and they turn down some great candidates so the more you apply to the better!! Good luck!
Help on my last post haha
