I am a junior. My unweighted gpa is a 3.5 weighted 3.9. After a semester of senior year, should be unw-3.6, w 3.98-4.1. Ive taken the SAT and scored but 2300. I've taken four subject tests Math I,II, Bio E, and spanish and I've scored above a 760 in all . Looking at pre med. No financial boundaries. i am in the top 15% at my highschool .it is very rigourous and we are a blue ribbon school. (according to my guidance counselor) Colleges acknowledge that my school makes it exceptionally difficult for students to succeed, and i do follow an upward trend from freshman to sophomore and the trend shoots up to junior(unw)(3.1->3.2->3.9)

Your gpa might be a little low for some of those schools but your SAT scores, extra curricular’s, and hard classes should make up for it. You should have a decent chance on most of those schools but some might be a stretch :). Chance me back !

wow u must go to an extremely competitive school. your gpa is a bit on the low side but ur sat scores are fantastic and so r ur ecs. I am not familiar with many of the colleges on your list but I know of students who got accepted to cornell and upenn and I believe you have a fairly good shot. UCB is my dream school. UC look at A-G unit count first and foremost (I had many private mentors who had been previous UCB admins) and from ur course count i see 44 units when the target for ucs is around 53. since you took geometry freshman year I am guessing you took algebra 1 in middle school so I will add 2 units and I will guess you took spanish 1 in middle school so I will add 2 more units so you are at a total of 48, falling a bit short. I am guessing you go to a prestigious hs unlike me which can actually work against you in some ways. The number of APs you have taken is quite small and college admins will consider how much are offered at ur school. however, you did take honors for many classes which i congratulate you on. sorry if this ended up sounding more like a lecture when you wanted a chance rating. so for the three colleges i somewhat know i think you are pretty safe with UCB, cornell, and maybe upenn would be a reach. hope this helps and chance me back ^^

Although you have fantastic scores and ECs, your GPA may hold you back from top schools like Berkeley and UPenn… Since almost all their competitive applicants have a high 3 (3.8+) UW GPA, you may be on the low side. However, hopefully your essays and ECs can work for you.

The only thing that hurts you is your GPA, but hopefully your upward trend and competitive high school will make up for it. I’m assuming you have no hooks, so here you go:

Vandy: High match
Cornell: High match
Upenn: Reach
Wustl: Low reach
Ucb: High match
UVA: High match
JHU: High match, match with ED
Bu med: Low reach
UR med: Low reach

@Epicdude how is cornell easier than UR med. i think he is being generous

Vandy: low Reach
Cornell: Reach
Upenn: high Reach
Wustl: reach
Ucb: Low reach
UVA: High match
JHU: High match/low reach
Bu med: Low reach
UR med: High match

Cornell and UPenn is definitely a reach…however I like how much leadership roles you have taken.

As everyone is already telling you, the GPA is definitely holding you back. However, colleges absolutely LOVE to see improvement and upwards trends, so try to turn this into an advantage rather than a liability.

I disagree with some of the people who said that BU Med is a reach. Now I’m not saying in any way it’s a safety, but I believe that your SATs will carry you through to the ultimate goal of an acceptance letter there, although admission at BU has become SIGNIFICANTLY more competitive in the past 2-3 years (from 49% to 36% since 2011).

Penn, Johns Hopkins, and WUSTL will be extreme reaches in my opinion, simply due to the freshman and sophomore grades. Vanderbilt and Cornell follow in terms of reaches, while Berkeley and UVA should be classified as low reaches. I should think that BU and Rochester should be matches, nothing more, but nothing less.

In any case, make sure that your extracurriculars and essays can make up for the underclassmen grades, and hopefully you can attain one of your reaches - with those SATs, anything is definitely possible. Don’t forget to ace the interview, and best of luck!

Oh my goodness that’s a good score…
I think you’ll be accepted to all of them. Only ones if worry about are Berkeley, Columbia, penn, and Cornell. I’d put those as reaches.

Vanderbilt - low reach
Cornell - low reach
Upenn - high reach
Wustl - low reach
Ucb - high reach
University of virginia - safety
Johns Hopkins(eding here) - reach
Bu 7 year med program - high reach
U of Rochester 7 year med program - high reach

i think your low weighted gpa is your weakness. good EC/volunteer though. a outstanding essay and outstanding supplements should help your chances
